The best way to discover Mussoorie is by foot. Go for walks around Mussoorie to see the real thing. Apart from the walk on the Mall, most of other areas are less crowded and much more beautiful and afford better views. Also in season when the Mussoorie roads are choc a block you will be able to manoeuvre much better compared to 4 wheels. Mussoorie is a small city and most of the places can be seen on foot, so leave those wheels behind and enjoy Mussoorie walks on foot.
Mall Road One can start at the Picture Palace from one side and finish at Library Chowk. The stretch is especially for those looking for some eating joints, shopping experiences and street foods on the way. Start from Picture Palace and pass Chick Chocolate on your right, one can enjoy some delicious chocolates and shakes at this well known joints. Encounter a steep incline just after that. Kalsang, next serves delectable Chinese cuisine in a poignant setup right on the Mall. Devour delicious Momos at Chinese Kitchen and sumptuous pizzas at Llama Cafe. Try and catch up with the Indian Bond, Mr Ruskin, the author at Cambridge Book Depot. Pass the cut to Gun Hill near Hotel Hammers before you finally hit the old Library or Gandhi Chowk roundabout with a Gandhi statue.
Camel’s Back Road – Start at Kulri Bazaar near Rink hall, and have a lovely view of the Himalayas all along this quiet stretch of 3 km.
Lal Tibba, The highest peak of Mussorie is an excellent trek of 4 km from Picture Palace. Pass Char Dukan on the way where you can stop for some pancakes, wood fired pizzas and Chai. From Lal Tibba you can do an almost level walk till Kellog Church.
Walk to the Gun hill instead of taking the ropeway, take a fork road from Kacheheri on the Mall to reach in about 20 mins.
Walk to the Municipal Garden, a beautiful landscaped green stretch with a mini lake and boating facilities is just 2 km from the Mall. Also reachable by car.
Walk to Landour, the old city still living in turn of the century era starts from Clock tower. Includes the cantonment area and the Sister Bazaar further down the way.
